To Supporters of Augusta Opera:
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I regret to inform you that the Augusta Opera must cancel the remainder of the 2008 / 2009 season. This affects upcoming performances of Puccini’s Tosca, scheduled for March 13 & 14 and Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, scheduled for May 15 & 16, 2009.
Canceling our season was a painful decision, as the Augusta Opera is the oldest continuously performing opera company in Georgia. We sincerely thank our local grantors, corporate sponsors, the Millennium Club, season subscribers, ticket holders, volunteers, staff and all opera lovers throughout the CSRA. We ask for your understanding in these difficult times. Augusta Opera does intend to restructure so that opera can return to our community in better times.
Fortunately, the Augusta Symphony, Augusta Ballet, Augusta Choral Society and Augusta Players have graciously offered their performance tickets to those holding Augusta Opera tickets. Please call the Augusta the Augusta Opera office at 706-826-4710, Augusta Symphony offices at 706-826-4705, Augusta Ballet office at 706-261-0555, Augusta Choral Society office at 706-826-4713 or the Augusta Players office at 706-826-4707 for more details. Should you wish to donate the price of your tickets to the Augusta Opera you will receive a letter for tax purposes that covers the full purchase price.
Sincerely,
Jonathan S. Krauss
